PASTOR TOM
I was born and raised in Oakdale, CA on a 5,000-acre ranch my father managed - (yes, I was a cowboy). My wife Sheri and I have been married for 37 years and we have eight children ranging in age from 33 to 13 years old. Seven of our children are adopted. I received my AA degree from College of the Siskiyous in Weed, CA and my BA in Biblical Studies from Shasta Bible College in Redding, CA. I believe in the Tent making principle - What is that? Tent-makers, may be considered serving the Lord with an unrelated occupation (I am a meat-cutter by trade) while functioning as a pastor, This expression comes from the apostle Paul (in the Bible) who supported himself by making tents while living and preaching in Corinth (Acts 18:3). I am also an Ordained Berean Pastor (Berean Church Fellowship).
Over the past 30 years in California, I have pastored three churches, I have been a church planter, worship pastor, Jr. and Sr. High Leader, and I have been involved with various ministries - the latest has been traveling with our teen-age kids Christian Band (Blameless Child) and ministering to people of all ages. The Lord has now lead me to pastor Hub City Bible Church.
My statement of faith: God?s path has taken me through many adventures, joys and heart-break. Jesus is my rock and I can always depend on HIM. HE continues to build me into what HE wants me to be. As Paul says "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Phil. 3:12
My Christian walk was not instant - I remained in the infant stages for ten years. Jesus used crisis after crisis to grow me up in HIM. My Lord has used work, marriage and fatherhood to soften my heart. He has used me as a teacher, a pastor, and a counselor. My Jesus has made me full of joy, and He has made me cry and broke my heart. Jesus has shown me my life on this earth is only temporary. "But your citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." Phil. 3:20
My goal is to speak boldly for the LORD, to do what HE says, to have love, grace, and mercy, for others - not to live a cliche and to encourage others to do the same...
A favorite Bible Versus comes from Roman 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing, and perfect will."
